HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY We can all be hopeful that Google will take our Website and run it right up to the top of page one. After all, page one placement for the right keyword phrase is a guarantee of lots of quality contact. But Hope is not a strategy and if you want that coveted top of the page placement you are going to have to do the right thing.
ARE YOU READY TO GET IT RIGHT? SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the art of putting together a Web strategy that has all the features that Google and the other search engines appreciate and use to evaluate the Websites that are submitted to them. In other words, the search engines judge Websites based on a set of criteria that they established. The closer your Website comes to meeting their criteria, the closer you will be to making a lot of money from the Internet. So, how close to getting it right are you? If you want to know in a hurry, just visit me. I?ll explain to you, in terms you can understand, how close your Website is to meeting Google?s ideal.
LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP Paid advertising, though more expensive than placement in the Free or Organic section, is another option. But be careful with this option because paid placement with a weak Website often results in a lot of out-go with very little reward. Those who get top placement in the Free section usually have a very powerful and effective Website. They wouldn?t be in the top spot if they didn?t have one. But, those who choose to use paid advertising because their Website is too weak to get free placement are taking a big risk. Also, it is a good idea to do a thorough cost / benefits analysis to compare paid verses organic placement. If you do, you will find that organic placement produces better results at a fraction of the cost. So, look before you leap.
WHAT IS THE ONE MOST IMPORTANT SEO STRATEGY? I get asked this question a lot and while I know that SEO is a cluster of strategies, the most important of all is content. Content includes the words on the page and the meta tags. The first thing we do when getting to work for a new client is to determine what the keyword phrases are going to be and then we get to work creating original content that will impress the search engines. Content that is NOT written for a definite purpose is useless. Blogs, press releases and newsletters on a Website can be forms of content but if the content is not targeted to the keyword phrases it will not help your Website move up to the coveted top spot.
