REAL ESTATE WEB DESIGN PURPOSE

REAL ESTATE WEB DESIGN PURPOSE

Just when I began to think that by now, everybody in the business understands the underlying purpose of good real estate Web design, I get a wake-up call that points out that I am mistaken. Case in point: A real estate agent called and wanted me to prepare a Search Engine Placement report for her. When I visited her Website I could tell at a glance that unless the woman paid for placement there was no hope as her Website was a template with framed pages and mostly all about her. I asked her if she had ever submitted her Website to the search engines and she got a little huffy and asked me what difference that would make. I asked her what her keyword phrase or search term was and she began to rattle off of series of one-word keywords. Yes, real was one of her search terms and estate was another. I really didn’t want to charge this woman to do a report when I knew that it was impossible for her to show up on page one of the search engines and I told her this as kindly as I could. However, she was offended and told me that she was on page one of the search engines and I asked her for what keyword phrase. She told me her name.

It is pretty easy to design a Website that will get top placement on the major search engines for the Web owner’s name. But that is not what your prospects search for. Good real estate Web design focuses on the needs of the end user, usually a prospective buyer interested in real estate in a specific area. Everything about the Website must be designed with that purpose in mind or the project is likely to fail.
